Green on the Go
14,000 food trucks roam the streets of Los Angeles, but only two are running on biodiesel fuel and serving up all organic natural foods. These Green Trucks, aka mobile eco-conscious cafés, work as a private catering business, particularly popular with the Hollywood production set, and also feed the public at different locations which can be found via their Twitter feed. Containers, utensils and plates are biodegradable; produce and product are sourced locally.
Owners Mitchell Collier and Kam Miceli hope to create a solar-powered fleet of vegetable oil trucks, “healing the planet one meal at a time.” The menu, created by chef Ross Johnson, ranges from their signature “Mother Trucker” vegan burger (handmade and teeming with fresh local veggies) to a juicy Niman Ranch grass fed burger. Other tasty treats include fish tacos, falafel wraps, Niman Ranch hot dogs, free range chicken burritos, harvest salads, and an organic beet, basil, and feta salad. Green Truck will custom-cater your next event with themes like an organic Mexican Fiesta or Farmer’s Market salad buffet. Based out of Culver City, Green Truck can be reached at 310-204-0477 or follow them on twitter. Generally, the truck hangs out at Wilshire and Hauser from 11am-2:30pm for lunch service on Tuesday through Friday, so check it out and eat some environmentally-conscious delicious food.
