Haute Art Hotel

Situated just a few blocks from the Jardin de Luxembourg, on the same Parisian street once home to Gauguin, Hôtel des Academies et des Arts is an intimate hotel that  feels like an art gallery with five-star service and modern accommodations. Just a short walk to Saint Germain-des-pres, The Louvre Museum, the Bon Marché and many other top attractions, this 20-room hotel is the epitome of Left Bank chic.

A passion project of a French couple who were inspired by the artistic heritage of the neighborhood, the hotel makes tribute to the artists who once lived and painted here. The owners enlisted Jerome Mesnager to paint his famous corpes blanc in various poses throughout the hotel. Described by the artist as a “meditation on light,” Mesnager’s white bodies have been seen from the Great Wall of China to the Red Square. Guests of the hotel can even visit Mesnager’s studio to see the creative genius at work.

The art, however, does not overshadow the amenities at this well-appointed boutique property. The friendly staff provides spot-on service and the inviting lounge-library features a cozy fire, soft sofas, and a wide selection of art books. A screening room with various video installations makes for more inspiring entertainment.

Rates start at $390 per night. Stay 2 nights or more in July and August, and upgrade to a  Club Room at the guaranteed rate of $280 dollars per night.
