Hawaiian Airlines Goes Green
Many of today’s road warriors are looking to eat healthier, but most airlines charge for meals that are loaded with preservatives and barely edible. In a bid to improve food quality and selection, Hawaiian Airlines now offers new “Ono Bistro” meals on all trans-Pacific flights that are made with all-natural ingredients and contain no preservatives.
Although the meals are free for those traveling in coach, passengers have the option to upgrade to a new premium repast for $10. When was the last time you were offered a sushi bento box with California rolls, edamame, teriyaki chicken, and a side salad in coach? You can also opt for a taco salad with grilled chicken breast and guacamole or a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. First-class customers can choose from three of five entrées from Hawaiian’s tapas-style menu.
Taking it one step further for Mother Earth, Hawaiian Airlines uses entirely recyclable materials for the serving containers; cutlery and water bottle are 100 percent recyclable.
You can even save some green by flying to Hawaii since fares to the Aloha State are cheaper than they have been in years. Certain roundtrip flights between Los Angeles and Hawaii start under $350.
