HOTEL BUZZ: Hotel Parq Central Opens in Albuquerque
After a major restoration, Hotel Parq Central offers guests plenty of high-desert appeal at low introductory rates.
Although Albuquerque is New Mexico’s largest city, it is often overlooked as tourists journey to Sante Fe in search of new-age enlightenment or Southwestern treasures. With the majestic Sandia Mountains rising to the east and the Rio Grande winding its way through the city, Albuquerque offers a variety of outdoor and cultural attractions. Autumn is the optimal time to visit this high-desert gem, after the heat of summer has passed and the leaves turn a myriad of fiery colors.
With the recent reopening of the historic Hotel Parq Central, visitors to this bustling city can stay at a unique boutique hotel that has been carefully restored to it’s 1920’s glory. Located along the famous Route 66 in Albuquerque’s trendy EDo, Hotel Parq Central is built on the renovated site of the original Santa Fe Hospital, which first opened in 1926. Designed by local Studio Southwest Architects Inc., the interiors retain a nod to the past with original clay tiles, 1926-era windows, and a Grand Staircase. Modern touches include free wireless internet, iPod docks, and LCD flatscreens.
The sprawling hotel consists of four separate areas, linked by landscaped gardens and majestic interior gardens featuring Catmint, Irises, and Mexican Evening Primrose. Sip 1920s themed cocktails at the new rooftop “Apothecary Lounge” while admiring the sweeping mountain views and city skyline.
Rates: Start at $139/night and include amenities such as free parking, gourmet continental breakfast, free Wi-FI in public areas and guestrooms, and complimentary coffee/tea service on each floor. To book, visit www.hotelparqcentral.com or call (505) 242 0040.

Don’t be fooled by the lure of a historic building, renovations or low rates! This place is completely over-rated and nothing less than a 3-ring circus poorly managed with ignorant staff.
