HOTEL BUZZ: The Fullerton Bay Hotel in Singapore
The newest luxury hotel to open in Singapore sits on prime waterfront property overlooking Marina Bay.
Luxury hotels continue to sprout up in the city-state of Singapore. The lion city’s latest addition to the hotel scene is the posh Fullerton Bay Hotel, a soaring glass complex that overlooks the Marina Bay. Situated in the Central Business District, near the arts and cultural area, the Fullerton Bay Hotel caters to the well-heeled clientele who visit Singapore for business or to do some serious damage shopping on Orchard Road.
The Hong Kong-based architecture and interior design firm, LCL Architects, has created an opulent glass exterior that rises above the Marina. Guests enter the hotel through a 56-foot wide lobby situated on the historic Clifford Pier, an important Singapore heritage site where many of the city-state’s early settlers first arrived. Each of the hotel’s six suites, including the Presidential Suite, are themed to reflect the unique cultural heritage of Singapore, including Indian, Chinese, Malay, Peranakan and Colonial styles. Located on the top three stories of the property with stunning views of the Marina Bay, the suites are named after the former Governors of the Straits Settlement, with antiques and bespoke artwork according to each theme. State-of-the-art-in-room technology blends seamlessly with the elegant and refined interiors featuring a natural color palette, polished rosewood, chrome, and latticed screens.
Dining options include three diverse culinary experiences. The Lantern is a stylish rooftop bar featuring gourmet snacks, fine champagnes and signature cocktails with panoramic city and waterfront views. The Clifford offers a modern brassiere with breathtaking 33ft high floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bay. The Landing Point, located alongside an indoor marble promenade with a spacious outdoor terrace, is the ideal spot to sip a cocktail and watch the fashionable locals and international jetsetters. Order the city’s most famous cocktail, a Singapore Sling, and take in the views of the impressive skyline.
