Laguna's Sawdust Art Festival
Every summer, Laguna Beach in California attracts a wealth of visitors eager to enjoy the post-card beaches and five-star dining as well as to visit the galleries of famed artists such as Wyland and festivals such as The Pageant of the Masters.
Yet, locals favor the laidback Sawdust Art Festival. Open from 10am to 10pm daily, June 26th through August 30th, the Sawdust Festival displays the work of over 200 Laguna Beach artisans who create savvy collectibles and stunning works using a wide variety of media, including ceramics, copper, glass, jewelry, leather, mixed-media, painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, wood and more.
After a long day at the beach, check out the festival on a warm summer’s night. Strolling through the trademark sawdust aisles, one truly experiences the relaxed creative culture of Laguna Beach. Artists gladly explain and even demonstrate their works to passersby while a selection of local musicians perform on one of three intimate stages. In the animated beer garden, nightly drink specials are offered along with organic pizzas. Children will enjoy artist workshops on drawing, painting and ceramics that take place throughout the day and night. Don’t miss the glass blowing demonstration, a dangerous, intriguing and complicated artistic process. The Sawdust Festival is an affordable adventure at only $7.50 for adults and $3 for children. Simply, it’s a great way to enjoy a pleasant summer evening in the beautiful Laguna Beach. For more information on Laguna Beach and The Sawdust Festival visit here.
