Last Minute Thanksgiving Feasts in LOS ANGELES
Try taking a break from the kitchen this Thanksgiving and find your way to one of the following restaurants, where you can relax with family and friends and give thanks (without having to do the dishes).
This is the time of year to reflect and be grateful for all that we have, whether it’s a new job or relationship, having good health or being blessed with family and friends. A bountiful feast usually takes center stage in celebrating this special holiday and we’ve included some top restaurants where you can find traditional Thanksgiving dishes to dine on.
LA’s organic and vegan restaurant Café Gratitude is once again spreading its gratitude to the community with a free Thanksgiving supper for patrons of their Venice Beach outpost. On Thursday, November 27th from 11am to 3pm (or until the last bite of stuffing runs out), restaurant staff, along with volunteers from the community, will be commemorating the spirit of the holiday by offering diners a complete vegan Thanksgiving supper, including Butternut Squash & Sage Lentil Loaf, Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Mushroom Gravy, Raw Stuffing, Persimmon and Pomegranate Salad and a square of Pumpkin Pie.
Guests will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis, and are encouraged to arrive early for prompt seating. Any donations received during service will be donated to a selected beneficiary. Volunteers interested in helping during the service for two hour shifts can call the restaurant (424) 231-8000.
Napa Valley Grille is offering both dine-in and takeaway selections this Thanksgiving. The Westwood dining destination offers a three-course rustic dinner ($48/person) as well as classic holiday fixings for takeaway ($9-85). Using locally-sourced ingredients, Napa Valley Grille’s rustic three-course dine-in option includes: Autumn Harvest Salad (with Butternut Squash, Kabocha Squash, Pomegranate, Toasted Pepitas, Farro and Arugula), Natural Diestel Turkey (with traditional stuffing, Brown Sugar Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Orange-Cranberry Chutney), Braised Lamb Osso Bucco (with Goat Cheese Polenta, Sauteed Swiss Chard, Rum Raisins and Toasted Pine Nuts), Vegan Organic Quinoa Stack (with Fuji Apple, Brussels Sprouts, Golden Raisins, Cider Vinaigrette and a fig port reduction) and for dessert, Maple and Pumpkin Cheesecake or Butterscotch Bread Pudding.
The premier restaurant’s Thanksgiving dinner takeaway menu offers a classic holiday banquet that serves 8–12 people. Housemade options include Turkey Gravy ($12), Cranberry Orange Sauce ($9), Roasted Yams ($12), 10-inch Pumpkin Pie ($18), Roasted Diestel Turkey Breast ($85) or Leg ($65), and more. Angelenos can reserve their Thanksgiving meal by calling (310) 824-3232 or emailing westwood@napavalleygrille.com, and pick up orders on Thanksgiving Day between 10am – 4pm.
West Hollywood newcomer, Barton G. LA is dishing up a feast of holiday comfort foods plated with a creative twist to entertain and amuse guests. On Thanksgiving evening, from 5pm – 10pm, guests can enjoy classic holiday fixings thoughtfully re-imagined as a three-course menu ($65 per person), featuring a plethora of traditional Thanksgiving offerings, such as: Spiced Calabaza Pumpkin Soup (with maple crème fraîche), Fall Garden Salad (with arugula, apples, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, quinoa, pomegranate, avocado, and lemon basil vinaigrette), Herb Roasted Turkey Breast with Confit Leg (alongside apricot and sage stuffing, parsnip and potato mash, roasted brussel sprouts, candied yams, orange cranberry sauce, and natural gravy) and Pumpkin Donuts (with cranberry compote, pumpkin butter, spiced warm chocolate, and cinnamon anglaise).
Additional holiday specials inspired by the fall season include: The Mother Clucker ($68) serves two and includes a boneless citrus and herb roasted whole chicken stuffed with cranberry-giblet dressing, alongside California figs, roasted delicata squash, and acorn squash stuffed with orzo salad; and Cider House Veal Chop & Apple Crop ($58) with chargrilled veal chop and apple-sage chutney, honey crisp apple fritters, baby brussels sprouts, and cinnamon cider honey. The restaurant’s full dinner menu will also be available. Reservations are required (310) 388-1888.
Another three-course prefix menu is available at the Sofitel’s elegant dining establishment, Esterel. Their special Thanksgiving menu is offered from 12pm – 4:30pm and is $65 for adults and $40 for children between the ages of 6 -12 years old. Thanksgiving specials are served after 4.30 pm along with the regular dinner menu and include warm apple cider for everyone, a special Thanksgiving bread basket and a small culinary gift.
First courses include a Roasted Butternut Squash Soup, Fennel Goat Cheese Salad or Pecan Crusted Seared Scallops with sage brown butter, sunchoke puree, chestnuts and brussel sprouts. As the main event, a Free Range Roasted Turkey is carved tableside with cranberry relish, brioche sage stuffing, buttermilk mashed potatoes, and haricot verts persillade. (They are also offering a fish and vegetarian option.) Standout desserts include a Pumpkin Chai Cheesecake and Valrhona Chocolate Cremeux with maple syrup ice cream, orange and candied pecans.
Chef de Cuisine Alessio Biangini will be trimming the tables at Cecconi’s with an all-inclusive, family-style supper on Thanksgiving this year – from turkey to black truffle mashed potatoes to cardamom gelato. Diners can also order from a condensed version of the regular All-Day a la carte menu. Reservations for the family-style Thanksgiving will be accepted from 1pm – 9pm (310) 432-2000 and is $55 for adults, and $20 for children 10 and under. (Note: The restaurant will be open for breakfast prior to Thanksgiving service.)
The family-style feast includes: BN Ranch Heritage Free-Range Organic Turkey, Leeks, Porcini & Cornbread Stuffing, Butternut Squash Tortelli, Black Truffle Mashed Potatoes, Honey Roasted Heirloom Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, Brussels & Kale Sprouts, Cranberry Sauce, Apple & Pecan Crostata, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Brownie, and Cardamom Gelato.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!
