Park Hyatt & Vivid Festival Shine in Sydney
Sydney’s Park Hyatt has recently completed it’s sixteen-month, $60 million dollar renovation, just in time for lights up at the much anticipated 2012 Vivid Festival, which opens on the 25th May and runs till the 11th June. Where better to watch the festival of lights, music and ideas unfold than from the sleek and sexy new rooftop terrace that overlooks the main stage – the iconic Sydney Opera House, which has also been undergoing maintenance.
Vivid Sydney is a major celebration of the creative industries and the biggest festival of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, attracting over 400,000 attendees in 2011. Coloring the city with creativity and inspiration, Vivid highlights include the hugely popular immersive light installations and projections; performances from local and international musicians at Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House and the new Vivid Ideas Exchange at the newly renovated MCA featuring public talks and debates from leading global creative thinkers. Don’t miss the “lighting of the sails” (a free event) at 6pm on 25th May when the multi-award winning German design collective URBANSCREEN transforms the Sydney Opera House with their reinterpretation of the sails.
The Park Hyatt Sydney renovation includes a total reconfiguration of the low rise serpentine designed building, introducing a new and larger day spa, restaurant, bars, private dining rooms, enhanced and larger conference facilities, gymnasium and recreational spaces in addition to Sydney’s largest guest rooms with, of course, the best views in town! The hotel also now boasts three rooftop suites built on a new fourth level (at a jaw-dropping AU$16,000 p/night with a two-night minimum, thank you very much!) with perfect 360-degree views spanning Sydney’s iconic Sydney Harbour, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Australian hotel design firm, BARstudio, created the stylish new coffee-colored interiors, featuring an art gallery of interior pieces, including artefacts, books and Australian artworks specially commissioned by the hotel displayed on the bedroom shelves and walls in all 155 bedrooms. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto spacious private balconies for most guestrooms, which no other accommodation in Sydney provides. Custom-designed lighting and new natural tone furnishings and fixtures enhance the indoor-outdoor features that make the Park Hyatt so unique.
Rates: Rooms start at AU$745 p/night. For more information visit: www.sydney.park.hyatt.com or call 1 800 492 8804
