Praia Rosa — Brazil's Beach Retreat
These photos are a quick insight into my time visiting one of Brazil’s most beautiful and celebrated beaches, Praia Rosa, located in the state of Santa Catalina, about one hour by car south of Florionapolis. During Brazilian summers, Praia Rosa is frequented by families, eco-tourists, surfers, and the young and beautiful. In these shots, it’s mid-February and I’ve arrived at the start of the infamous Brazilian Carnival, a last farewell to life’s pleasures of the flesh─until the next year that is. Only in these parts of the country, festivities are influenced by the laid-back beach culture where golden sunsets and cinematic sunrises are preferred to samba parades and dancers. Regardless, warm, friendly locals know exactly what it takes to welcome everyone any time of year.
